Dan Marinis is one of those characters who fits so nicely into the magic that is Saint-Laurent Blvd. The owner of the Blue Dog Barbershop is a former DJ and hair stylist who braved the odds and went into business with hardly anything to claim as his own: a barber's chair, a strong sense of discipline and an inviting bar.
Wait, did you say "bar"?
For most of his 20s, Dan had two careers: his days were spent behind a chair clipping curls in a hair salon and at night, he'd spin vinyl behind the turntables in clubs in Old Montreal and the Main.
Comfortably immersed in the Ibiza electronic culture of the raucous punk bands he still loves, the barber, just shy of his 30th birthday says: "For a long time I worked in salons as an employee. I rented my chair. At night, I was playing in clubs. I have many friends in the community, so it wasn't hard to find gigs."
