I’ve been coming here since they first opened.I have noticed changes in the food portions.Twice now I have ordered #140 Malaysian Seafood Laksa Rice Noodle Soup in extra-large.It is disappointing. The actual bowl itself is large enough to serve four people. The noodle portion can fill a small coffee mug, the entire bowl is just soup, or seasoned broth. Some random seafood item and that is it. I had to make dinner after leaving because I was still hungry. Aside from that, I love this place. Read more

Saw all the raving reviews about this place, so I decided to try it out. Service was great, but food was just average for me. Portions were quite small. The noodle was average. The coconut soup was way to sweet, as if someone had accidentally dropped a can of sugar in there.Read more

Love going to Thai Sun for both lunch or dinner. Meals are always fresh, service is great. The spring rolls are delish and the coconut shrimp is the best. Cannot beat the pad Thai. Been going for a number of years and always enjoy.Read more

I've been to my share of Thai and Vietnamese restaurants in the region, and Northern Thai certainly ranks near the top.
The place is clean, if a bit dated in its decor. (And please, if you see this: change your front signage. Blah!) If you've never heard Thai pop music before, you're in for a treat for the next hour or so. Service is always attentive, courteous and mostly friendly. As with most Thai places, very willing to accommodate for vegetarians, too.
The food is colourful, fresh and immensely tasty. Plenty of cilantro and basil to go around for all! The vegetables are plentiful and cooked to perfection. I'm particularly a fan of their Thai sticky rice, a nice change of pace from the standard jasmine rice that most places only offer: dense, flavourful, and arriving in it's own small steam basket. Their vegetable curries are jam-packed with a large variety of fresh veggies and thinly sliced tofu. Om nom noms, indeed!Read more

I've been hoping to find a place that does a version of Pad Thai which rivals the Pad Thai that the Thai Terrace (formerly in Mississauga) used to make. We loved the food here (a worthy rival for Ben Thanh just down the road). We will be back a lot in the future...perhaps even tonight as it's directly across Hwy 7 from the Galaxy Theatre complex and we're seeing Jack the Giant Killer.Read more

After living in Mississauga for a few years, I always can't wait to be in KW for the Pho Ben Thanh's! Surprised to see reviews about inconsistency, they always exceed my expectations. I'll admit, when they first opened several years ago, some dishes would be made inconsistently, or different than other locations, but that all was resolved quickly. My favourites are Sweet and Sour Tamirand CHicken, Mango salad, Seafood Pad Thai, Grilled Chicken Vermichelli bowl, Pepper beef, Eggplant Chicken, Spring Rolls (Fried and fresh). I like to dine in with a bunch of people so you can order several dishes, and each get your own side of steamed rice to soak up the sauces from each dish. ALways fresh veggies, always great. Better food and selection than any viet-thai restaurant west of Toronto, definately. Oh, and don't forget to order a mango fruit shake, they are divine!Read more

I have never had Thai food before but our visitors from Toronto loved Thai food. Because of the reviews over a year ago I was worried about visiting this restaurant. We went about 4 p.m. for dinner and our experience was great. I thought that if the food was going to be poorly cooked or appear to be left over as a previous reviewer stated, it would be at this time of day.The waiter was friendly and helpful. Our food arrived steaming hot, fresh and delicious. Every dish was as described and everyone enjoyed their meals. Our friends definitely agreed that we would be visiting here again.Read more

The food is always tasty and freshly prepared with many options from vegetarian to anything you can eat. You order at the counter and they deliver the food to your table. People are very friendly, helpful and honest. My husband inadvertently dropped a $20 bill and two weeks later upon our return he had the money returned which he hadn't really missed. Now that's customer service. We go there at least twice a month and never have been disappointed.Read more
The many flavours of Thai restaurants in Atwood ON
Thai cuisine enjoys great popularity worldwide, and for good reason. The dishes are characterized by a harmony of sweet and sour flavours and fresh, bold ingredients like basil, cilantro, lime leaves and mint.
In addition to the freshness of the ingredients, the other big benefit of eating Thai food is economic: most Thai restaurants are quite affordable.
What you'll find on your plate A typical meal consists of a soup, a curry dish or a spicy salad, along with fish and vegetables. To whet your appetite, here are some classic Thai recipes:
Tom yam kung: shrimp and lemongrass soup
Tom ka gay: coconut milk soup with chicken, lemongrass, chili and lime
Pad Thai: fried rice noodles served with bean sprouts and chopped peanuts
Khao niao mamuang: sticky rice with coconut and mango—fruit is the honoured guest at dessert time
Salty fish sauce compliments many Thai dishes. It enhances stews and sautés, as does galangal, which is similar to ginger. Cashews and curry are other musts.
Spicy sauces are often used as well. These are typically made of roasted or dried chili peppers, garlic, shallots, lemon or other citrus fruits, tamarind and vinegar. Keep in mind that the number of little hot peppers shown beside each dish on the menu (one or two or three) usually indicates the level of spiciness.
Another typical recipe is papaya salad, which is enjoyed by everybody in Thailand, from the poorest of families to the clients of the most contemporary Thai restaurants.
Where to go? To choose a Thai restaurant in Atwood ON, rely on the recommendations of friends or local merchants. In fact, the next time you go to the hair salon in Atwood ON, your hairdresser may be able to recommend the best place for Thai food while you’re in the neighbourhood.
