What to do one week before your wedding

It's a week away from your wedding date! Before you walk down the aisle, make sure that you are prepared and ready for the big day by ensuring that you've planned everything to a tee.

What to do one week before the wedding

Final counts and fittings

  • Confirm your reception information and final guest count to the caterer or reception site catering manager so that appropriate amounts of food will be prepared.
  • You'll then want to pick up your bridal gown and the bridesmaids' gowns to avoid last minute rushes. It is perfectly acceptable to ask your maid of honour or other bridesmaids to help with picking up and delivering the dresses.
  • The bride and bridesmaids should also have manicures and pedicures done prior to the wedding day.
  • It's a good time to take care of style for the men too. Encourage the groom and groomsmen to have their hair trimmed to avoid a too-short haircut in the wedding photos.
  • The groom and groomsmen should have their final formal wear fittings. Remind them to wear the shoes they intend to wear on the day of the wedding so that their trouser length can be fitted appropriately.
  • It's also a great idea to select one of the groomsmen to be responsible for returning the rented formal wear after the wedding.

Important documents

  • It's always a good idea to develop a printed wedding day hour-by-hour schedule to be handed out to all wedding participants at the rehearsal or rehearsal dinner.
  • Prepare a list of ceremony seating for special guests such as grandparents, godparents, and step-parents to give to the ushers on the day of the wedding.
  • Prepare the wedding license and payment envelopes to be turned over to the best man on the day of the wedding.

Confirm honeymoon details

Reconfirm your honeymoon arrangements with your travel agent, or, if you have made the arrangements yourself, make sure you have confirmation numbers for travel, transportation and accommodations. Then finalize packing clothes and personal items for the honeymoon trip.

Time to party

Before your wedding, you'll attend the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner and distribute gifts to your guests. If you find yourself with a little extra time, try handwriting your thank you cards for an added personal touch. Make sure you take a moment to relax and not let the stress get a hold of you.

If you follow these guidelines of what to do one week before your wedding, guests will feel special and your big day will be fantastic — all thanks to your impeccable planning.
