what FABULOUS store...Lois and Len are always so friendly, I love the focus on supporting Canadain and mostly local made artisans... so many great one of a kind gift ideas in fabulous price ranges and the store is never the same twice..... always seeing something different when I go in .... and really you must try the "maple bacon Fudge"...so yummy
If you are driving by Wabamun then it's worth a stop in, but it's not worth the drive there just to see this store. If you are in Wabamun, stop at the drugstore and Marketplace for unique, interesting dragonfly items. As for the fudge...it's made with a commercial product and is "fresh" for 6 weeks! How fresh is that??? (Hint: not at all fresh.) It's obviously the owner's dream to have this store, but unless you know that something you want is stocked there, it's a long way to go for nothing.
Every time I go there, it is different. More selection, interesting art, a wide variety of price points, so much to see and learn and appreciate. Plus, I love the atmosphere there: the gallery lady is so knowledgeable and enthusiastic about all of the artwork that I never fail to learn something. And the fudge, don't even get me started on the many yummy flavours and the way it melts in my mouth! This is one of my favourite driving destinations now.
Looks interesting but is too far to drive unless you have $100s to spend. Tiny pewter bowls $90, cloth birds $450, sea salt $6! May items are from outside of AB (BC, YK) but surely these (jewelery, tea cosies) are available from AB artisans? Jewelry was a huge disappointment. Lots of exactly the same item (perhaps in different colors) and earrings where the image of the dragonfly faced the same way on both earrings. For the high price of the jewelery, I expect it to be unique and properly made.
I'm sorry that you were disappointed with Gossamer Treasures. Most people have been delighted with the cross Canada ?? selection in the Gift Shop, saying "It's nice to see unique things made in Canada!" We do have things to have things to fit everyone's budget.
