Sakai had so many reviews, and I thought I might as well throw in my two cents as well for those who will base their decisions whether to visit the restaurant on these reviews. Sakai has the best Japanese and Korean food I've had for a long time, and you can clearly notice that there has been alot of energy and effort to maintain such a quality in their dishes. They have a very welcoming atmosphere in which the sushi-bar takes the centre stage, and the staff is always friendly and they do try their best to serve you. With that being said, it is also possible that you may have to wait upto 30 mins for your dinner to be served on occasions when they are unexpectedly busy, but I've found that the wait is worth the quality of food that I get, and if I can help it I try to avoid Fridays. My recommendation is, go in, plan to spend about an hour and a half, and you won't be disappointed.

We chose this restaurant based on the reviews on this website. We also wanted to order take out and they have a very extensive menu on their website. When I picked up the food the atmosphere in the restaurant looked very nice with an open area in the middle, sushi bar at the back and some more private screened in booths at the front. The food was delicious and fresh. We were not disappointed at all. The prices may be slightly higher than some sushi restaurants but you definitely get what you pay for. My husband particularly enjoyed the tuna sashimi which can be hit or miss at other restaurants. We will be back again and I can't wait to try some of the other items on the menu.

One of my favorite place to dine ever! Autumn dinner was sort of a sampler and my friend loved the Sashimi dinner, and you can tell that there was a lot of care put into it. Also the atomsphere was very relaxing, and interior was very well decorated. next time I want to sit at the bar and watch them make it. I was so glad to find a nice Japanese place in Burlington. Not a cheap meal, but well worth the money.

I am disappointed that people are affecting the rating system for non-food or service related issues. I've been to Sakai several times. There aren't many Sushi restaurants in Burlington to choose from, but Sakai is a solid choice. It's got above average decor, but it can get very busy on weekends, resulting in longer than desireable wait times. That said, it's obvious they do their best and the quality keeps me coming back for more. Don't expect a cheap meal, but it should be good value.

The quality and flavor of the food is unbelievably good. I wish I had discovered this restaurant before. The mark of good sushi is the freshness of the fish and the crispness of the cuts - this ranks Sakai among the best I have ever eaten at. I found that the chicken teriyaki was moist and juicy. The sauce was clearly homemade with a great balance of ginger, sweet and salty. I would definitely go back. (By the way, the bathrooms are immaculately clean - very good sign.)
