Located in the Old Montreal, steps away from the city’s business district, Luna Yoga has been in operation since 2003. "We wanted to have a welcoming, friendly yoga studio, and our mission has always remained the same throughout the years,” says Jennifer Maagendans, Luna Yoga’s founder and director.
An environmental studies graduate, Jennifer learned to teach yoga when she was still a student. "When I graduated, I kept getting offers to teach at various studios," she explains."I eventually did, and that led me to open Luna Yoga," which she launched with her partner Jason Kent.
"We wanted to attract a community of like-minded people who desired to practice yoga, but also to learn about and engage with its philosophy," says Jennifer. "I definitely see that yoga is becoming more and more popular. A few years back, it was viewed as a more hippie thing, and now people warm up to it." As a proof of this claim Luna Yoga’s clientele includes a lot of business people and a lot of men; two demographics not traditionally associated with the practice.
A studio that believes whole-heartedly in combining meditation with exercise, this Old Port yoga studio has nothing but experienced professionals on their side. Plus, they’ve been known to move their classes outside in the summer. You’ll get the chance to work out, meditate and enjoy a warm summer’s breeze in the old city.
