our lunch was awful..hard overcooked battered chicken balls and shrimps, veggies and noodles with no actual veggies in it, diced veggies consists of celery and waterchesnut, nothing of quality. The service consisted of throwing menu at us and plopping down plates of less than desiable food..money and time is best spent elsewhere!! With all the competition won't be surprised when they go out of business.
I would say that their food is very good and tastes very well - their chicken balls are always very good and I thoroughly enjoy their food.
However, its true. Their service is awful. My boyfriend and I went in to eat an half an hour before close and they would not seat us - claiming that it was too late. I understand they wanted to go home, I work at a resteraunt too. However, it is not appropriate to simply not serve people - they were still open for another half hour. They were very rude about it and I was extremely disappointed with their service.
I would go back for the food, but they should not be able to get away with treating people badly, its simply unacceptable.
The food was ok.. nothing to special about it.
But the service.. MY GOD... rudest ppl ever!
I spilled some soy sauce on the table, and when i was leaving the woman waitress came chasing after me yelling at me all through the plaza!!.. PURE UNPROFESSIONAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Kam Yin has been a favourite for many years. They continue to serve quality food at an outstanding price. It is a great place to take the family out for a delicious but decently priced meal. It has become our "place we eat out at" and recently we've noticed that others have felt the same. I think the popularity has left them slightly understaffed at peak periods, but they do their best to stay on top of it. I think for some of the reviewers on this page, they may simply have unreasonable standards for a casual family Chinese restaurant (Its not a five star place - I wouldn't want it to be). Service is always great as they understand their demo. People come in to enjoy the company of their own, not to hear a waiter crack jokes or dive into conversation. In all the years I have been to Kam Yin, I have never once had an unpleasant experience. Its a fabulous place and I will continue to be an extremely happy customer.
